Sheetrock and Basement

The sheetrock crew completed their portion of the job today. Your blogger was finally able to enter the home. The home feels warm, tight and quite. It was cozy inside. I had to take a peek in the new basement area. It was warm and BIG. The ceilings are tall so you don't feel like you're in a cave. There's lots of storage tucked under the stairs.
Here are photos of the dining room,
upstairs landing, view from the dining room to the kitchen and the new upstairs bedroom. The sheetrock actually makes the rooms feel bigger.

The Drywall is Hung

The drywallers worked all weekend and completed hanging all of the drywall. Today is a day of clean up in preparation for the tape and mud. We expect that process to take two weeks.

Drywall Load Day

It took a specialized boom truck to get the drywall up and near the second story window.

Four sheets of drywall just fit inside the window opening. The window was permantly installed today. The drywall crew didn't want to wait until Monday so they will be hanging the drywall over the weekend.

Inside the Walls

This is the master bathroom water closet. As you can see, the framing dictated the placement of the light and fan.
The new vaccumm system is installed. Here's the upstairs hallway outlet.

The homeowners had a sink that backed up in the upstairs hall bathroom. The drain has been repaired. This is the laundry room side of the wall. You can also see a good view of a pocket door frame.

Main Floor Progress

The new entry hall closet goes straight back and takes a turn under the stairs. Its a great hiding place.
Here are the stairs to the basement. Note the sheer walls have been installed.

Our lead is bundled up today. He's pointing to the mud room pocket door hardware. The pantry entry is at the top of the stairs. Its going to be a good size for a pantry.

Bathroom Progress

We took the grand tour today. The house is much warmer with insulation. The site is cleaned up and ready for drywall. This is the master shower.
In the main floor bathroom we were able to remove the false ceiling and raise the ceiling. The bathroom has a whole new feel to it.

Insulation

The insulation has been installed. The inspection is set for tomorrow. Things will begin to happen fast now. Drywall will be "loaded" on Friday while the HVAC contractor turns on the heat. Look for new photos on Monday of the drywall being installed. Upstairs Hallway

Snow

We know the plans didn't call for a personal sledding hill but we thought we'd keep it for fun. :) The siding is being installed. You can see the scaffolding on the left side of the home.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our blog followers from the Crew at York!

Update on the interior

Here's the view from the dining room to the kitchen. This is the current state of the front hallway.
The fireplace and windows are installed in the formal livingroom.

It's about 10 degrees cooler inside then outside today so everyone is bundled up.

Shingled

Chuck worked hard today making many "cuts" to complete the upper shingles on the back of the home. Beautiful. Check out the clear, blue, fall sky in the background. It was a good day to be working outside.

Exterior Detail

Chuck completed the trim detail on the back of the second story at the peak. It's just a taste of what's to come!
